Description

Entopest Cockroach Trap for the Monitoring & Control of Infestations

Designed specifically for the professional UK market, this product contains a powerful attractant bait for enticing a wide range of cockroaches. The trap contains a sticky adhesive surface that prevents roaches from leaving after entering; this reduces the population and helps to prevent reproduction. However, they should not be considered the sole method of control, especially in areas of high populations and instead should be used in conjunction with insecticides and gel baits.

The trap requires a tablet lure (included) to be added to the central part of the trap; this is considered a better alternative to impregnated glue as it entices the cockroaches to enter into the central section of the trap rather than the outer perimeter.

The Entopest cockroach trap will work with all species considered a pest, including Oriental cockroaches (Blatta orientalis) and German cockroaches (Blattella germanica); the main species encountered within the UK.

Works against all species of pest cockroaches

German cockroach (Blatella germanica)

Oriental cockroaches (Blatta orientalis)

American cockroaches (Periplaneta Americana)

German cockroaches (Blatella germanica)

German cockroaches are easily identifiable by two dark stripes across their thorax, and adults grow to 15mm in length. Most commonly found indoors, German cockroaches prefer humid conditions and are typically found in kitchens and bathrooms and behind appliances such as fridges, washing machines and coffee makers!

Oriental cockroaches (Blatta orientalis)

Oriental cockroaches are brown or black, and adults grow to 20-30mm in length. Oriental cockroaches like to live in cool or damp environments and are often found in basements. With a preference to waste, they are often found in and around bins and are a considerable nuisance within built-up commercial locations.

American cockroaches (Periplaneta Americana)

American cockroaches are among the largest cockroaches in the UK; they are red-brown and often grow to 30mm in length. The American cockroach prefers humid, dark and undisturbed areas and can be found in basements, kitchens and bathrooms of homes and can often go unnoted until the population grows.

When to use cockroach traps

Cockroach traps should not be considered the sole treatment method and will unlikely control an established infestation, especially where the adult or nymph numbers are high. However, traps are used by professional operators within the UK pest control industry as an essential part of any cockroach treatment. Therefore, they will often be placed before and after a treatment has been carried out.

Traps will help the user identify the activity location and will often help detect where target-controlled treatments such as insecticide sprays of bait should be carried out. Users should place traps down before the treatment has been undertaken to understand the size of the population, location of activity and species. Then, at the end of the treatment, the traps will help inform the user if the control has been successful or if further works are required. Traps should be left in place as an early indicator of new emerging infestations.

Where to use cockroach traps

Kitchen

Bathroom

Pipework

Basements

Kitchens

We recommend placing traps within concealed places away from direct sunlight; traps within voids such as under kitchen units or behind appliances will get the best catch rate.

Bathrooms

Cockroaches are likely to come from voids adjacent to pipework, so traps should be placed in locations behind the toilet, shower base, or behind the bath panel.

Pipe Voids

All roaches will follow pipework to travel around properties, often resulting in infestations within airing cupboards, boiler rooms due to their warm environments.

Basements & Attics

Undisturbed locations can often hide emerging infestations, so we recommend placing traps within areas that you may not regularly frequent such as an attic or basement.

How to set up the Entopest Cockroach Trap

Users must understand the limitations of cockroach traps; whilst being an excellent method to control emerging infestations; they are unlikely to remove established ones. The main purpose of the trap should be prevention and monitoring. Entopest cockroach traps are highly recommended with other treatment methods such as insecticide sprays or gel baits to help locate activity.

For best results, traps should be placed within areas of activity, and when possible, within enclosed environments that cockroaches are known to live, such as within dark, moist areas. The obvious locations, such as within kitchens, should be the main target area. Still, users should also target other areas within the fabric of a building, including the airing cupboard and cellar. Cockroaches are particularly active at the back of fridge freezers and other electrical items due to the dark warm, and humid conditions created.

  1. Remove the strip of paper that protects the adhesive layer.
  2. Take out the tablet and place it in the central part of the glue trap.
  3. Shape the trap as indicated in the drawing.
  4. Place the trap in the areas where the cockroaches are present.
  5. Used products should be disposed of as general waste.
  6. Wash your hands after disposing of the trap.
